Rock & Roll Farming

Sep 20, 2017

Tonight I'm heading over the border to the Shropshire Hills to talk to an actual real life millennial, Harper-Adams student Georgie Gater-Moore.

We talk about her background and how she got the bug for agriculture helping out on a neighbouring sheep farm as a teenager, despite having no previous links to farming.

We discuss the tough time she went through during her A-levels after finding a tumour on her pituitary gland, and how she overcame this with the help and support of her family.

Georgie tells us about her fledging sheep flock, and how she funded purchases with her earnings from work experience at places such as The Shooting Times, and Farmers Weekly, and how she hopes to expand numbers in the future.

We discuss her various writing, from her excellent blog comebyblog.com to winning writer of the year at The Student Farmer awards and becoming the youngest ever member of The Guild of Agricultural Journalists.

We also talk about what it's like to be a new entrant in British Agriculture, and the help she's received along the way. All this and much more..

Georgie's an incredibly impressive young Woman, and it was my great pleasure to talk to her tonight, even if it did make me feel ancient after realising that she was only 2 when I started at Harper-Adams!

Check it out folks..
